"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church, which is, of course, quite a different thing." -Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
Placating terrorists, meeting with dictators, compassion for murderers... but no humanity for the unborn... incredible.

Simple mistakes: If my sister's not mistaken, the thieves were incorrectly positioned next to Jesus. Also, was Mary Magdalene really a prostitute, or was that a fabricated idea that was accepted over time (also said by my sister)?

Chaos, Gibson chose to use much of what is found in Catholic Tradition. And although the Church has since reversed their thinking on Magdalene as a prostitute, Gibson still chose to portray her as such. This could have been affected by his beliefs.

Didn't Gibson portray her as the woman taken in adultery, which is also from tradition? That is not the same as a prostitute.

Well, what we see on screen are the Jews dropping rocks, and Jesus writing in the sand. So she could only be the woman spoken of here...
JOHN 8
1 And Jesus went unto mount Olivet.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them.
3 And the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman taken in adultery: and they set her in the midst,
4 And said to him: Master, this woman was even now taken in adultery.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such a one. But what sayest thou?
6 And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground.
7 When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again stooping down, he wrote on the ground.
9 But they hearing this, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 Then Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee?
11 Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more.
But you are right. Adultery and prostitution are quite different.

Re: Play nice For what it's worth, there is good reason to believe that the John 8 adulterous woman is not in the original text (I know this is getting off-topic).
