Time to Pray for the Pope
Link
quote: So now let's take stock of the situation. In Austria-- a country where dissident Catholics have nearly seized control of the Church-- a papal appointment has been rejected. At the Vatican, there is open feuding among the leaders of the Roman Curia. In the mass media there is a steady drumbeat of criticism of Pope Benedict and his policies.
This, I repeat, is the decisive hour of this pontificate. If there was ever a time to pray for the Pope, this is it!
--- Nothing by force, but everything by charity.
Ss. Thomas Aquinas and Augustine, pray for us.

"Rebel Australia priest defies sacking: reports"
The orthodox deal with that in a very different way .

Re: Time to Pray for the Pope
quote: An Austrian priest who helped rally opposition to the Pope's appointment of an auxiliary bishop for the Linz diocese has admitted that he keeps a mistress, the German-language Kath.net news service has revealed. Father Josef Friedl, one of the 31 deans who said they would refuse to accept the episcopal ordination of Father Gerhard Maria Wagner, told a public forum that he opposes the discipline of priestly celibacy and lives with his girlfriend; he said that his parishioners have no objections. According to the daily Der Welt, Friedl is one of several deans of the Linz diocese who lives openly with a woman. Meanwhile another Austrian prelate, Bishop Egon Kapellari of Graz, said that Father Wagner-- who has withdrawn from the episcopal appointment-- had "traumatized" the Austrian public with his public statements of opposition to homosexuality and insistence that God punishes sin.
Wow. Just wow.

Re: Time to Pray for the Pope
Cardinal Mahony is far worse IMHO.
Now you see why the Orthodox look at the RCC as being weak and corrupt .

Re: Time to Pray for the Pope
That is why there is so much wailing and gnashing of teeth. It will happen and is happening. Christ will not allow his bride to go on being so defiled as she is now.

Re: Time to Pray for the Pope
France's First Lady said that the Church's teachings had left her feeling "profoundly secular".
She departed from her post's traditional religious neutrality to accuse the Pope of "damaging" countries like Africa with his stance on birth control
The Italian-born former supermodel risked angering believers in France and beyond by declaring that the Pontiff's proclamations showed that the Church needed to "evolve".
