So many bad bishops were appointed while Bernardin was pulling strings. I don't know what he was thinking but I want to believe he was doing the best that he could despite the realities of trying to govern an almost ungovernable Church.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Michael D)Tue, 25 Aug 2009 10:26:07 +0000 Re: Another Protestant Denomination Fallshttps://bshjihm.runboard.com/p226117,from=rss#post226117https://bshjihm.runboard.com/p226117,from=rss#post226117quote:This particular Lutheran synod has okayed homosexuals in "committed relationships" (sexually active) to be clergy. Indeed, and there are many inherit problems with this. First and foremost is a complete re-write of Scripture. quote:There are also some that are hiding their homosexuality behind their position as a priest and are not particularly celibate. Remember Bishop Weakland? Agreed. quote:In any event, Rome has said that men with deep seated homosexual tendencies are not to be ordained. Could not agree more. I have been trying to understand why PJP II looked the other way in regards to homosexuality in the priesthood. The only viable answer I can agree with is that he believed a man, regardless of sexual orientation, to remain celibate once they took their oath. The flesh is quite weak. nondisclosed_email@example.com (SHJIHM)Tue, 25 Aug 2009 10:08:46 +0000 Re: Another Protestant Denomination Fallshttps://bshjihm.runboard.com/p226116,from=rss#post226116https://bshjihm.runboard.com/p226116,from=rss#post226116This particular Lutheran synod has okayed homosexuals in "committed relationships" (sexually active) to be clergy. A homosexual man can be celibate though and there are some that are. There are also some that are hiding their homosexuality behind their position as a priest and are not particularly celibate. Or even known. If a sexually active heterosexual male takes a vow of celibacy, what probability is there that he will be a holy priest? What is the probability that there are holy priests right now who happen to be homosexual? My point is, homosexual or not not, if the vow of celibacy is taken seriously and lived, what difference in holiness can there be? nondisclosed_email@example.com (SHJIHM)Tue, 25 Aug 2009 08:12:45 +0000 Re: Another Protestant Denomination Fallshttps://bshjihm.runboard.com/p226111,from=rss#post226111https://bshjihm.runboard.com/p226111,from=rss#post226111Unbeknown to whom? He is a priest regardless of whether he keeps his vow is the proper answer. By doing so they join the ECUSA in reverting to paganism. quote:The change to gay clergy policy passed with the support of 68 percent of about 1,000 delegates at the ELCA's national assembly. It makes the group, with about 4.7 million members in the U.S., one of the largest U.S. Christian denominations yet to take a more gay-friendly stance.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Michael D)Mon, 24 Aug 2009 10:31:25 +0000
