A special Prayer to Saint Joseph
Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interest and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him close in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls - Pray for me.
--- "My Sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Re: A special Prayer to Saint Joseph
Beautiful, Tony.
In many ways, St. Joseph seems to be the forgotten saint. These are good posts.

Re: A special Prayer to Saint Joseph
Did anyone see ABC's Nightline last night? Last night they had a report that showed that many people in Massachusetts are seeking the intercession of St. Joseph to help get their homes sold, since there is a real slowdown of homesales in MA. One woman seeking his help was not even Catholic they said.
Supposedly the legend goes that a group of nuns in Germany hundreds of years ago sought the intercession of St. Joseph with their property and it worked.

Nord, yes, St. Joseph has become the supernatural real estate saint of this age. I think it is terrible that he is used in this fashion. A sell my house emergency kit. I have no issue with asking Saint Joseph to pray for you and intercede on your behalf regarding a home sale, but the manner in which we do it, and the manner in which we conduct ourselves should always be more imprtant than the sale of our home.
The legend does involve a group of Nuns who were looking to expand their property. The owner of the property the nuns sought refused to sell. So the nuns, in dedication to St. Joseph, buried St. Joseph coins on the property. And the man soon changed his mind. This lilttle story has bloomed into St. Joeseph emergency home kits.

Re: …
Tony - Yes, I did not wish to explain more, as it all sounds so weird. First they bury his statue in the ground, in front of the house. However, they must make sure that they bury it upside down (why I have no idea) and they must face his stautue towards the house.
Asking for intercession is fine, but this procedure does seem very strange. They asked one of the real estate agents if this works. She hesitated and then she said, "yes, in difficult cases, it can help".

Re: …
I know people who swear it works. I am not sure but in cases of real need, why would we discount intercession, even if asked for in an odd way?

Re: A special Prayer to Saint Joseph
i've heard about this bury a statue of St Joseph in the ground upside down too(not sure of the signifigance of EITHER).
Great to have such faith-but don't we need to be cautious it doesn't border on superstition?
God Bless,
